DAVE THE DIVER X GODZILLA TRAILER REVEALS CLASSIC KAIJU BATTLES

For whatever reason, Godzilla has been sorely missing from video games for some time. It seems that previous attempts to bring the King of the Monsters to the realm of video games has taught developers that the monster is destined to stand on the sidelines.

But as Godzilla has returned to the big screen many times since, and as games like Warzone and Fall Guys welcome the beast to their events, it's clear some devs willing to try to make their appearance work. More than this, it's proof there are fans who want it.

As the massive monster comes to a new title as DLC, players are excited to see what the game has in store - but they're wondering when their time will come for a fully-fledged new-gen Godzilla game.

New Dave the Diver Godzilla DLC trailer reveals a classic kaiju battle

The final trailer for Dave the Diver's Godzilla DLC has revealed some fresh details about the free expansion that launches tomorrow (May 23), and it has confirmed that an incredibly old-school Kaiju will be making its appearance as the King of the Monster's big fight.

The trailer reveals that Dave will be seeking Ebirah, the Horror of the Deep. Ebirah first appeared in its own movie in 1966, featuring the giant sea monster along with Godzilla and Mothra. In the game, Ebirah will be the big baddie who faces off against Godzilla, as Dave has had a couple of run-ins with the monster itself.

The trailer also shows that players are able to collect what looks like a Godzilla action figure under the surface, and while its uses are unknown right now, they're still hugely excited.

It's still frustrating that the best Godzilla appearance in video games we've had in some time is via a DLC pack. Many are praying for their own title, with one YouTube comment pointing out that "Godzilla appearing everywhere except in his own game."

"We got Dave the Diver x Godzilla before GTA 6," says another commenter. Dave the Diver x Godzilla is a wild crossover for sure - so maybe it stands as more proof that a Godzilla game is what we really need.
