DAVID HARBOUR'S COMPELLING DRAMA WITH AN INTERESTING MYSTERY IS STREAMING IN UK NOW

HBO is back with an intoxicating mix of sex, lies and murder in DTF St. Louis, a new dark comedy starring Stranger Things' David Harbour as a man involved in a spiralling love triangle after he signs up to a dating app. Harbour plays Floyd Smernitch, a middle-aged man encouraged by his friend, weatherman Clark Forrest (Jason Bateman), to sign up to DTF St. Louis to "spice up" his marriage.

A quick look at the trailer reveals that Floyd has ulterior motives as he's having an affair with Floyd's wife Carol (Linda Cardellini).

The series, also starring Wednesday's Joy Sunday, Richard Jenkins and Peter Sarsgaard, has aired its first episode on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK, and is available to stream on HBO Max and Sky Go.

DTF St. Louis would be your standard tale of infidelity if Steven Conrad's show didn't dial up the uncomfortableness to 11 with a side of murder.

When Floyd is found dead, Detective Donoghue Homer (Richard Jenkins) investigates, initially dismissing the case as "heart attack". Enter Jodie Plumb, a Special Crimes detectives portrayed by Sunday who suspects foul play.

Jodie's hunch leads her and Homer to team up and dig deeper in the world of DTF St. Louis, quizzing Clark and Carol about their possible involvement in Floyd's untimely demise.

The series has only just started airing — remaining episodes follow weekly on Monday until 12 April — but it has already earned a Certified Fresh badge on Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 81% out of 26 reviews.

The Spool has hailed it as an unmissable "feel-bad" watch in their review, writing: "At this point... the show is equal parts unnerving and powerfully compelling."

Meanwhile, Decider recommends to be patient and stick with DTF St. Louis after episode 1, writing: "DTF St. Louis is definitely a little weird at the start, but viewers' patience will be rewarded with a quirky but interesting mystery starting in episode 2."

Finally, Variety praises the perfectly "calibrated" performances of the central trio, bouncing off each other in a shot that can result "inscrutable".

DTF St. Louis airs on HBO and Sky Atlantic and streams on HBO Max and Sky Go.
