BEL POWLEY NAILS THE MICRO SUIT TREND IN DIOR AT SERPENTINE GALLERY EVENT

Actress Bel Powley has always had style; in fact, she's got bags of it. From her signature red lip to her expert mixing of texture and colour, she's a regular fixture on the front row, as she is on our screens.

Most recently, she starred as Miep Gies in A Small Light and in the wartime aviation epic Masters of the Air alongside Barry Keogan and Austin Butler. However, we are still not over how she stole our hearts as Birdy in the much-loved adaptation of Dolly Alderton's Everything I Know About Love.

Earlier this week, at a dinner to celebrate the Judy Chicago Revelations exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery, Powley once again proved her style chops, wearing head-to-toe Dior. 'Bel and I have wanted a Dior moment for a while', explains Powley's stylist Cher Coulter on the decision.

For the gathering, hosted by the French House, the actress opted for a sleek black short suit over a crisp white shirt. Exaggerated lapels and cuffs rolled up over the blazer added decidedly cool-girl flair.

Coulter, who has also worked with fellow style it-girls like Bridgeton's Emma Naomi, Michelle Dockery and Nathalie Emmanuel, explained that the Dior ss24 collection felt 'very Bel' and that together they were 'drawn to a super clean monochromatic silhouette.'

It was a natural fit, it would seem, 'Dior nails tailoring, so I want to show that off in a youthful chic way on Bel,' says Coulter. 'It's a very clean black and white suit with sharp edges and short shorts. Bel has amazing legs, so we always start there.'

Dior also brought the goods for beauty, sticking to the actress's signature red lip and paring that with barely there mascara and a glowing base. 'I loved the idea of something super tailored on her with sleek hair. It's super polished and simple,' adds Coulter.

For accessories, the star wore matching black-and-white Dior slingbacks, a smattering of gold rings, and monochromatic pearl earrings. Powley was joined around the dinner table by actress and playwright Zawe Ashton, model Lily Cole, and enduring style icon Bianca Jagger.

For Coulter, the process of finding the perfect look for Bel Powley is always a journey of exploration. She meticulously studies each season's collections, earmarking potential outfits for Powley. 'I send all the requests, and when I receive the confirmation, I share a photo with Bel along with a ton of happy emojis,' she explains. We think it is safe to assume that a happy emoji or two was sent for last night's dinner look.
