'GET THE DEAL DONE' AS MAJOR NEW £37 MILLION ATTRACTION PLANNED FOR WELSH CITY

Wales Online readers are welcoming the news that a New Zealand company Skyline Enterprises, has been in talks with the Welsh Government and Swansea Council to potentially create a £37m adventure attraction on Swansea’s Kilvay Hill near Landore. Local residents are excited and have been sharing their views in our comment section.

The company is hoping that the attraction will introduce the area to more visitors; Skyline's chief executive Geoff McDonald says: "At the moment there's a very tiny portion of the population that gets to enjoy it," he said. "This is an opportunity to share Kilvey Hill. The gondolas will provide access for everybody."

The company Skyline are planning gondolas, a zipwire and a luge attraction and have recently flown in for another round of meetings before submitting revised documentation to Swansea Council's planning department within the next month.

If all goes to plan for the company, the attraction will open in 2027 and could possibly rack up around 450,000 visits in the first full year. However, some people are worried about the habitat loss, the impact on the landscape, and the hike in car numbers visiting Landore. Skyline has refuted these claims and say the attraction will not be intrusive and the impact on traffic would be "very minor".

Commenter Davapwill is happy with the plan: “Just what the city needs.” Crickhowell agrees: “I wish the council would stop wasting time listening to the usual handful of moaners. Sadly Swansea has far too many of these individuals. Get the deal done. Kilvey Hill is not exactly a beauty spot. Boost the local economy.” Ammen writes: “Good for Swansea and economy.” poker_face thinks: “Swansea needs it.”

Pricy can’t wait: “I've been to the top of Kilvay and the view is stunning! I think this project deserves to go ahead, I'll be first in line for the zipwire!!” Join our WhatsApp news community here for the latest breaking news

Parkesy53 is not keen: “37 million pounds could be better spent on schools, hospitals and roads and not on vanity projects.” Jacksea is also worried: “Where is all the money for it coming from? I thought I read that they expected us to finance it. Also how much will a ride cost, because if expensive it won't be used?”

paul0453 points out: “The £37M is private funding.” Sons- says: “ Welsh Government will give 4 million, the company the rest. 4 million from the Welsh Government is a drop in the ocean for them and is creating over 100 jobs.”
