NEW MULTIVERSUS TEASES MORE CHARACTERS THAN WE CAN MANAGE

After some time away, Player First Games' MultiVersus is making its grand return. The brutal brawler is doing so with a host of characters that players simply weren't ready for.

It was a treat to discover that The Joker would be making an appearance and was being voiced by the iconic Mark Hamill, but the reveals have simply kept coming, with leaks hinting at some classic baddies making their debut.

They were proven true, as the ending of the game's latest cinematic trailer revealed a butch Jason Vorhees and a particularly angular Agent Smith from The Matrix. Players can't wait to take them for a spin in-game, but if Easter eggs buried in the trailer are anything to go by, there's still lots (and we mean lots) to come.

MultiVersus' new trailer is jam-packed with easter eggs

The latest MultiVersus trailer is a blast through a number of the fighters that occupy this world, and one X user has taken it upon themselves to rattle through each of the minor Easter eggs hidden in the video. It implies that there are a lot of new fighters who could soon appear on the roster.

One X account dedicated to campaigning for Adventure Time's Marceline to join the game (apparently being noticed by Warner Bros.) has done incredible work in flicking through the trailer frame-by-frame. They point out the Easter eggs that lie in wait and imply that a number of new characters from franchises are on the horizon.

Pinky and the Brain, Samurai Jack, and the Teen Titans have all been teased, as have the baddies from The Powerpuff Girls - after the trio was also given the nod. There's a lot to dig up here, and while Agent Smith could be joining MultiVersus at a later date, these teases suggest characters are lined up for many seasons to come.

Before you ask, yes, that's Marceline's bass guitar appears on the Adventure Time stage, so the original poster could actually be getting what they've wanted the whole time. She'd be more than welcome and right at home alongside Finn, Jake, and the Banana Guard.

It’s an exciting time to be a fighting game fan, and as MultiVersus shoots for the crown held by Super Smash Bros., the hype around these new additions could actually help justify the attempt. Maybe Super Saiyan Shaggy was just the beginning.
